Maybe they are from our perspective, but they overlap; for example, if you could talk to a person 40 billion ly away (instantaneous talking, quantum entanglement, idk some shit) your universe and their universe would overlap in that range, but you'd see parts of your universe they never could and vice versa
I don't know, I get that parts of the universe are casually disconnected even right now, but it doens't feel right to me to call it a multiverse, since when widening your perspective enough, it's all a continuous universe
