It's for neutrino detection. You use the earth to block out all cosmic rays such that you don't get any neutrinos created from cosmic rays interacting with matter. Then the only thing passing through your detector will be neutrinos which originated in space.

This thread about google putting up billboards got flagrantly spammed by chatbots posting nonsense about coffee and tea: >>>/g/83488988

It is likely one or more organizations are using these "AI" text generators and similar bots to jam conversations on this website by dropping the signal:noise ratio.

What's your point? That it doesn't count if you're not measuring it from sea level? Does that mean that nobody in Colorado has a "real" basement because they're all on a mountain a mile above sea level?
