A few days ago I learned that companies make medication to treat people who are on medication. For example, schizo meds cause lots of negative side effects, and so corporations make meds specifically for people who are suffering from the negative effects of schizo meds. So you need to take meds to cure your other meds...

most of them are homeless, living under a bridge and cannot help but harass people on the street because their brains identified them as being gang stalkers

i have met schizos and most of them have severe self harm wounds because THEY ARE LITERALLY INSANE
that is unless they take their fucking pills

and sure, those pills have side-effects, but man, its much better to be a bit drowsy through the day than to think you are about to die by the hands of a random old lady walking besides you

these companies are trying to make those side effects more manageable, how is this bad?

but with that said, many people absolutely need their meds, and not all meds are instantly zombifying with the correct dosage.

It really depends on the schizophrenic symptons, and the drug thats required to prevent them being sectioned permamently.

Having been in a psychotic episode for 8 months, I can assure you 4 years on abilify to get back to a normal life is worth it.
I was lucky that I was so responsive to the meds, but some poor souls who have serious schizophrenia I don't envy.
Since abilify has the least side effects, and over time they can be less effective.
But you have to think, some people can be in permament episode, which is akin to quite literally living in the 8th plane of hell.
And a lot of the doctors and nurses especially in mental health get burned out hard because quite a lot of the time it's a losing battle.
The brain is still uncharted territory and antispychotics at this stage are largely trial and error. Some meds people are responsive to, some people aren't.

People will argue that schizophrenics are just genetically predisposed to it, but thats like saying if you eat unhealthily you will get fat.
Someone who is predisposed and never takes drugs will most likely lead a normal life. Thats why its called a trigger.
And its not just cannibis, it can be caused by alcohol addiction, too much caffine for too long, childhood trauma, depressing life experiences turning people to drugs. Lots of combinations of factors that go together.

So if they find an active substance that works but have lots of sides they research another one for the sides.

Simply not true, some people can be in episodes and would be for the rest of their life had they not be given medication.
Schizophrenia is an umbrella term, some people can have one episode take meds for a while and be back to normal, others its a constant battle and their symptons are a lot worse.
But also some people can't handle the effects of being on medication so stop taking them. They can make you drowsey and sluggish, mine slowed my thinking down by a factor of thee, they make you feel 'doom and gloom'. If someone stops taking them too early they risk another episode, and repeated episodes cause permament damage to the brain, mainly slowing your processing.

300ml of Abilify in injection form lasts for a month, it costs £100, the nhs is a stupid machine which doesn't function, but I will say thank god I didn't have to pay for 4 years worth of injections.
Also took propranalolol and procyclidine every now and then to cope with anxiety and restlessness.

If enough people on medication A also take medication B to deal with the side effects of A, usually they develop medication C (which is just A+B) that can extend the amount of time they can abuse patent protection after the patents for A or B wear off.

They most likely ended up in such a situation because they didn't have access to medications to help with their schizophrenia. True, when you're thinking that everyone is trying to fucking kill you and no one is helping you calm down or bring you back to reality-- it may seem fucking easy to just put you down, but humans are much more complex than that. If *utopian* ideals are met, then everyone would understand mental health and provide resources to help these schizos to get their meds, but we clearly fucking don't because xyz. It isn't a fucking Disney fantasy to believe that these poor fucks CAN get help and become productive members of society, we just aren't allocating the resources for it.
