I hate everything about where the world is headed, i want this clown world to die in a nuclear holocaust, but at the same time, i've always dreamt about becoming a genetic researcher, is it possible to contribute to science without contributing to the acceleration of our enslavement?

As long as they lose, we win, even if it means our deaths. Some humans might make it to the other side, and if they are free of these elite, then global warming will have been a blessing. And if we die out as species, at least we avoided AI-fueled technological slavery. That too is a victory.

It's a moot question really because funding for real Science research is not going to exist in 20-50 years after demographic change becomes crystallized. Western universities will be a farce similar to Iran or Pakistan where even Physicists have to praise Allah in every paper in some way. The Chinese might value technology, but they don't value expensive fundamental research beyond cheap copies of 20th century Western milestones.

So in conclusion I'd say it is more important than ever to get into science. You can help us to archive the knowledge (which we have partially done already with the Arctic vault etc.), perhaps in a thousands years or so some small segment of the Western races will have survived and there will be a glorious Rennaissance followed by the second Englightenment.

Build your own lab. I'm in the same boat as you, I use to do genetic research and Viral applications at a Pharma. I loved what I did, but I hated the politics, backstabbings, and corruptions.

Craiglist, a buddy of mine was able to buy a used BSC from there, functioning and everything. Just like the lab him and I use to work in. You can also check out The Thought Emporium, he has some tips. I also started to learn a trade, so I'm hoping once I learn enough in the field, I'll just hand pick what power usage I'll need for my equipment. Hopefully down the line I'm planning on building a small company that does in home lab building and preparation if anyone else wants to get in on this, cause fuck this centralized bs.
