>>13664810I think the idea is that the military only gets brought in to curbstomp all the scientists when things have gone so completely tits up that there's no hiding it. You can at least kill everyone and destroy the evidence so that you can control the narrative and hide whatever you were actually up to.
Similar things have happened irl but more on the scale of individuals getting stomped by glowies, rather than entire facilities getting stomped by a military brigade.
