Why do humans have glaring biological flaws that you would think would have been eliminated through the hundreds of thousands of years of evolution?
For one example, eyesight. My eyes are bad. I am not blind, but without contacts or glasses it is dangerous for me to drive a vehicle. I can make out objects clearly but not details.
If I had been born 50,000 years ago I would have died in my early teenage years old because of this.
So why is bad eyesight still so common in humans?
Another one that comes to mind is childbirth. Giving birth is flat out dangerous for human females much of the time. It makes no biological sense that many if not most women have to endure such pain and physical trauma to the body to give birth, which can kill them.
A third example is the lumbar spine. What the fuck is that? The function of of your entire lower body relies upon this central column of bones that is also supporting the entire weight of your upper body being pulled downwards by gravity. Most people injure this area of their body at some point in their lives. Many deal with issues stemming from their lower back for their entire lives. You can often survive today from a broken back because of modern medicine, knowledgable nursing, and the non-scarcity of food and water which allows for you to be fed and hydrated even if you can’t walk. 50,000 years ago this would not have been the case. A crippling lower back injury, even one that would eventually heal, would likely be fatal.
Why are we so poorly “designed”?
