Hey /sci/, I've been doing a lot of thinking lately and was wondering why there are so few notable geniuses or savants in the modern population despite there being billions of people in the world. What happened to all the Mozarts and Beethovens, the Einsteins and Darwins, the Michelangelos and da Vincis? Are we truly living through a dysgenic cycle or are exceptionally smart and talented people just not spotlighted as much as they used to be? It seems that even 70 years ago you still had exceptionally talented people coming to the fore to redefine the paradigm or make monumental discoveries. Even the average joe seemed exceptionally more aware of their general environment than the average person today. It makes me think about the years after the collapse of the Western Roman Empire, in which there were only a handful of notable thinkers or artists compared to before the collapse. To make a long story short, where have all the talented and smart people gone?
