the years (pic related), I recommend greatly for
one book in the pic, Handbook of Mathematics.
I call it the NYNEX White Pages of Mathematics,
because..."Why would anyone need another?"
For others, the book's thickness is like a bible,
which is great because it'll save your soul.
For math and science undergrads/grads, it's a
good reference with minimal, clear cut examples
and descriptions from topics of arithmetic to
computer algebra systems (Lie algebras were
added in the 6th edition). And it has all the good
tables you need for looking up.
It may be possible for some to get what they
need from the handbook, but those learning
the topics must stick with their textbook of
choice with this handbook as a backup. With
that said, first direct link is the fifth edition and
the second is the preview of the sixth edition.
