Currently working in a marine microbiology lab as a freshman in college, thinking about doing a PhD in biological or chemical oceanography at Washington or SCRIPPS after my bachelors

I am under the impression that most of the lab exercises are done on the beach/ships. Imagine spending a beautiful day outdoors weekly while earning an oceanography degree. Seems based to me.

Oceanography is poor's man space exploration. Awesome and dangerous while still low cost.
And probably the third field you can get more pussy, the first two being veterinary and archeology.

I'm aware that there's physical and geological specializations to oceanography as well, but biology and chemistry are also a part of it. It's a highly varied field with pretty much the only constant being the oceanic focus.
