In this case it's just beetles. Female beetles choosing larger and larger males leads both males to be more predated and females to have more masculine bodies, with less space for eggs. Natural selection has to actively revert that.

What are the consequences of this in humans? Why was I led to believe that human women have a sixth sense for selecting what's best for the species?
