A project to increase capacity has started. But with the ban on combustion engines entering the city by 2030, with natural gas (pretty much the Dutch standard for cooking and heating) being phased out, it's dubious if the upgraded grid will have enough capacity.
Add the city expansion plans (mainly building upwards, expanding outwards is almost undoable) and the general state of the infrastructure [those Amsterdam canals? The sides are crumbling. Many bridges are in bad repair too] (sewers are maxxed out, because built up areas have no rain buffering capacity) and ...
Of course Amsterdam is SHIT, but a good indicator of what problems there'll be elsewhere before long.
