Pole shifts happen on average once every 500,000 years. Hummanity has endured several of them and we're still kicking. Also, the Sun's magnetic poles flip far more frequently at cycles averaging once every 30 years.

Geology anon here. Magnetic pole reversals happen commonly throughout the geologic record of the Earth (there have been some very odd quiet periods lasting hundreds of millions of years though ... which is unexplained). Typically every half a million years or so the Earth has been reversing poles. This has absolutely no effect on animals in the fossil records so expect things to continue on as normal.

Might be neat to watch though.
