Can you technically learn to defend yourself in court? Can you technically learn to fix your own electronics? Can you technically learn to treat your own illnesses? Yes, sure, but who has the time to learn all of that?
That's why we delegate these duties to other people who took the time to learn these things, each an expert in one specific thing and fulfilling a role in society, because no one has the time.
That's why I trust the medical experts. We delegated the duty of curing us to them. No amount of "research" I do will measure up to their expertise (and listening to channer ramblings certainly isn't research), unless I ACTUALLY dedicate the same amount of years and effort as they did into it. And then the only result is I come to the same conclusion as the consensus they already came to.
