Earth would look banged up too if we had a solid core. Our crusts plates move around and marks left by asteroids get fixed. Moon doesn't have this.

Its mostly because moon has no atmosphere to break up/brake smaller rocks. They hit the moon at speeds, an atmosphere woult burn them up, make them explode if it would be earth. Thank you jupiter and moon chan for being our shield

On some days and especially on clear summer nights when I look at the moon it seems to brandish a giant skull and it's not just my apophenia is acting up
