give an example. my impression is genes change, but the basic set of proteins are still expressed. with sweet corn they may tweak the corn to produce more fructose, but more of the same thing is not a hazard. They may also breed out tannic acid so it tastes better, but that just making less of one organic compound. with GMO they get genes for creating completely proteins and organic compounds, that could have taken millions of years to occur randomly through evolution.

That is a valid issue but it doesn't seem to be particularly damaging and hasn't caused till this day any real ecological damage. The impact that shit has is minimal compared to other industries that have some form of alternatives or are useless compered to what GMO offers. Yes living in this world with all the commodities one has has a toll on the environment so if you want progress well be sure to be willing to break some eggs.

It's evident in parts of the plant we don't select for. Just look at potato fruit. We always select for the tuber as that's what we eat and we almost never plant potatoes from seed (partially because everything other than the tuber is poisonous, and there is a chance the new seeds might produce poisonous tuber varieties). This caused a variety in potato fruits, but you almost never see those, with genetic engineering we can edit the tuber directly and not have an effect on the fruit at all. So GMO is better as its more controlled, with selective breeding you just fire in the dark and hope something good comes out and that none of the accompanying changes are detremental/dangerous.

another is herbicide (glyphosate) resistance so that you can spray the field with herbicide to kill of weeds but not the crop
but there are other modifications that improve tolerance to drought, soil salinity, or other conditions, and some that improve the nutritional value of the corn cob
all of those modifications are different because different transgenes are being expressed in each case. It's conceivable that one gene product could be bad for humans, but you can't just lump that in under "ALL GMOs"

Thanks for the xtra info. I watched a documentary on GMO and was being facetious. I know GMOs are regular seeds that were bombarded by strange genes, often not even from plants, that are intended to get in the plants genome so the plant will express the toxin. I'm not comfortable eating strange toxins. I believe they harm bees. I know the increased yields are only a few percent. I'd rather eat normal food.

For other anon who wonder why. Tumors have huge oxygen need infact so much that they create hypoxia which promotes blood vessel growth to the tumor. Which is why they can be seen with contrast injections, because of the extra blood vessels they have.
So no they don’t only exist on glycolysis, it’s because the oxygen supply doesn’t meet their demand.
