Person A exists in society and goes about his normal life. Suddenly, he is killed and replaced by an exact copy. Let's call it person B.
From Person A's perspective: I exist until I suddenly don't. Because I no longer exist, I can't have a perspective.
Person B: I existed (via Person A's memories) and continue to exist. Nothing has changed and I continue to live my life as person A.
Society: Person A was replaced by Person B who exactly acts as Person A. All previous relationships are conserved and nobody is any the wiser.
It is functionally equivalent and nobody can tell the difference.
