use a "space ship" that can thrust in specific and changeable directions.

speed and efficiency are mutually exclusive.

speed 2 chemical rockets into LEO one with the xfer stage and one for the habitat.
Burn at a mars xfer window and use atmospheric breaking at the Mars side, might take a few passes. can't come home.

efficiancy swap the xfer stage for nuke or xenon thrusters. the xfer window would be a different time and it would take a lot longer.
atmo breaking is still the most efficient at the far end.

i guess you could send a second xfer stage to mars orbit to come back home. but coming back isn't fast or efficient.

And when those drones terramorph an oasis of that extreme desert, you could buy that personal oasis pod-net to do what exactly? To survive in more dire conditions? In case Earth can be damaged beyond repair (not very likely, but whatever) we can have an arc on mars AND on the orbit so we can recolonize the most fit planet for our specie (this one) so that is what I could tell you from the top of my head.

There are a lot of uninhibited places (forests mainly) in Brazil if you have the guts to deal with the possibility of being kidnapped

Feel free to explore a desert though, closest thing you will get to mars
