Considering we’ll be dead by 2100. I’m thinkin YEA we’ve got A LOT wrong scientifically that will be painfully obvious in the future.

I would say the assumption that tech improves 1% per year is wrong. Civilization will advance logarithmically, a large initial burst followed by slow growth, but never reaching an an asymptote.

Problem is, people tend to equate the "dark ages" with the middle ages as a whole, not realizing that the middle age is almost a thousand years stretching from the fall of Rome to, I don't know, the fall of Constantinople (or some other date around then).
Was there a European dark age after the fall of the Western Roman empire? Certainly. Such a big influence collapsing, cities being sacked, tribal peoples moving around and settling where they really shouldn't, that will cause a technological downturn. But saying that the 11th century is just as "dark" as the 6th century AD is fucking retarded beyond belief.
You can just as easily run a comparison between the Bronze age collapse and they heyday of the Iron age and conclude that everything inbetween was a "dark" age, and you'd be just as wrong.
