How can females be the "primary sexual selectors" if rape and slavery was so common throughout human history?

Selection via rape is what happened in Turkey. Because women have to agree to having children. You can rape someone, but you can't force them to have children and then care for them. At least that's not possible on a societal (large enough) scale. You would have to keep her chained up, but that also means she wouldn't be useful to the tribe/family. If you don't chain her up then she could commit suicide, slit your throat while you're asleep, poison your food etc.

This is probably why human have instincts not to mistreat people, especially their partners. The partners have access to them during their most vulnerable times. It's better if the partner covers their back rather than tries to murder them. It would also explain Stockholm syndrome, because it would help captives assimilate better into the new tribe/family.

It sounds fucked up though.

That's not how women work. She could do all that, but usually she won't. She will submit and raise the children.

Do you honestly think that sex is all there is in reproduction? Especially human one?

First and foremost:
Rape is bad because it causes the mother severe mental trauma which would also affect the development of the fetus.
Even if she didn't abort the child, chances are, the mother would just abandon the child

Secondly, the house needs a father because children are completely dependent.

To be an evolutionary successful, one must not just breed, but also ensure that your child manages to survive to adulthood. And boy, do you have any idea of the mortality rate of infants.

If you rape a girl, chances are you won't stay to provide. And your child is dead

In conclusion:
Women ARE the sexual selectors because they are going to suffer the biggest biological investment here.
If the father abandoned her, she would most likely die.
