well as an EE student myself who switched from CS I would rank it higher in all areas but there's a huge bias. My main reason for switching is my personal interest in working with circuits and hardware over software. I worked as a developer and got really bored after a while making endless CRUD apps. Even in a game development role I found the work generally uninteresting and pursued electronics as a side hobby. A less subjective reason is the EE space has a much better filter (engineering school) for candidates compared to the overcrowded tech space. Everyone and their dog with little technical background wants to transition to tech and that makes it hard for employers to filter effectively. It will be an insane grind unless you have a top university on your resume I'd say. Also you'll have to grind leetcode questions which I hated doing. I guess there's people who really love it

EE has more potential to be personally and professionally satisfying but almost every EE I graduated with has ended up being a code monkey, or in a few cases, even worse, a report monkey.

I did the double major, the poor man's streamlined version of that is Computer Engineering and then start learning hard on your own when you have your piece of paper and cattle brand

if I were starting now I'd prolly do just that

Kind of tricky to answer, since a lot of EEs can qualify for CS jobs. However, on the whole, probably CS.

There’s a million CS jobs. But again, the EEs can qualify for them in addition to the EE jobs, which there is still a lot of.

Whatever interests you more. EEs will probably work on more interesting and rewarding systems in general, though.

Both have a lot of potential

If you enjoy both then you could do what I’m doing and do an EE degree with a focus on computer stuff. It varies from school to school, but my ECE department actually had more CS opportunities (machine learning, embedded design) than our CS department.

Getting stuck writing code all day when you want to get your hands on some hardware is annoying but it's better than my former classmates who shuffle around paper all day at the power company. Did anyone dream of filing regulatory compliance documents as a child? Probably not.

CS has higher salaries but a lot of people seem to get bored with it and start burning out. EE, on the other hand, is more interesting.
CS is more abstract in nature and I believe on masters/PhD level gives you better research opportunities.

it was a pain and since academy is not for me, I would have probably been better off with CE then studying on my own

having said that I cannot know if I would have made the same interviews with a different CV and I've done pretty well

regardless, you cannot predict the market reliably 4+ years into the future, so take this into account if you don't have a scholarship, I didn't go 1 penny into debt and wouldn't do it now either
