if there really are an infinite number of stars in the universe... how come when you look at the sky there are so many dark spots without any star light?

But if you get a telescope and look at a dark spot it's way more likely to be empty than to have something there
Night sky should be filled with star light

Light from really far away gets tired. The stars and galaxies we see is just the not tired super close stuff. Telescopes can increase the distance we can see but not by much depending on the power of the scope.

go to an empty desert or the antarctic and look at the sky, you'll the galaxy clear as day
