Covid booster shots do not make sense from a hypothetical standpoint. Once your white blood cells adapt to the Covid-19 virus there is no expiration date to that adaptation. The vaccine should only stop working if the virus mutates. And if the virus mutates causing the vaccine effectiveness to be negated then you need a *different* vaccine - not the same one, again. What is wrong with the logic here?

mRNA creates the spike proteins using the cells of your body which are then attacked by white blood cells. The virus itself is not vaccinated against but rather the end result. Arguably not many are experts in mRNA vaccines as it is still a recent and niche field.

Only hard part would be to continuously give birds seed. I guess it would require some sort of garbage can that can detect that garbage has entered and output seed. It also has to prevent birds from giving it sticks and other non garbage so basically impossible.

Computer vision seems like the only way. Which means it would probably not work because computer vision is jank. And getting somebody to build this custom hardware and software for cheap seems unlikely, unless maybe you convince some students to do it for their grad project or something, but in that case it probably wouldn't actually work because shit made by students never does.

if you want to know stuff google cell mediated and antibody-mediated immunity.

mmr vaccines are live attenuated vaccines, the strongest thing you can get besides getting infected.

booster shots are like everything in medicine, a statistics tool, some people didn't get cell immunity developed, they gain the most. some people did but their antibody immunity waned. they don't get much benefit but vaccinating them again raises chances they won't get infected at all which is helpful for breaking the pandemics. in both cases it's some percentage of advantage, and some countries consider it significant enough to recommend boosting.

This does not make sense unless the virus mutated. If the virus mutated then the same vaccine from before won't work.

The only cell mediation comes from lymphocytes (white blood cells) which are adapted to the spike protein and not the virus. The spike protein works by fusing with the membrane of cells. If there is a mutation in the virus which causes different spike proteins then the vaccine from before is useless.

no shit sherlock. same goes for any other vaccine target. but for that very reason spike protein was chosen as a target - because it's less likely for virus to be able to change it significantly while still being able to bind to cell receptors.

Wouldn't the likely explanation of the Delta, Lambda, and Mu variants going past the vaccine due to changes in the spike protein? If so then a 'booster shot' won't do anything. The issue is adaptation of the spike protein against the lymphocytes produced against the original vaccine. All of the cases which seemingly bypass the vaccine is not due to 'waning immunity' but no immunity at all from the vaccine due to the mutations. Whoever thinks just more of the old vaccine is a fool.
