In my opinion soft sciences can also be respectable as long as it's done in the pursuit of truth. Humans are complicated so most of the methodology from the hard sciences are inapplicable. It's the best we can do, kind of deal.
But, I would be hesitant about using medication that was prescribed by a psychologist. I hope the best for the field.
