studying maths in my spare time, and i want to buy a good calculator i can use for most math i'll run into. What calculator do you have? Which one should i get?

I have TI89 Titanium.
Good for some courses. Absolutely useless for others.

If you're into self studying it's better to stay with wolfram alpha + desmos. Both online.
If you prefer some desktop software you have plenty options: mathematica, maple... mostly expensive choices.
wxMaxima is a good option for a good part of your needs and it's free. But it has a ugly UI, not gonna lie.

Lol, I'm curious, care to elaborate?
I also think that matlab is huge fucking monster with thousands of tools I never used, but still it literally needs a fucking shit ton of space to install.

i'm really good at getting matlab to run fast and do stupid tricks (pic related). the language encourages antipatterns everystep of the way. the libraries are buggy. and you pay out the nose for it. i finally convinced my group to go to python+scipy, which while not perfect, is leagues better than matlab and has a large and active community
