It's not that IQ doesn't matter, its importance is simply greatly overstated.
IQ doesn't mean anything except faster information processing, faster pattern recognition.
At some point the benefit of IQ is mostly irrelevant. It becomes about creativity, conscientiousness and other (not necessarily inborn) skills.
Yes, IQ matters. But it isn't a simple equation that regresses into linear dependence of the higher your IQ is, the more likely you are to invent, contribute, create. IQ helps in doing so faster.
Above 130IQ, the line becomes blurred.
Moreoever, a lazy 170IQ person is absolutely mogged by a highly motivated 120IQ person.
Potential is a meme. It does nothing. By definition it means something unrealized, and therefore absolutely useless. If you have potential, go fuck yourself.
