If you read the wikipedia page it will say the medicinal benefits are unverified, studies are somewhat contradictory, but I think gingko increases CSF clearance of waste from the brain and allows you to function better when sleep deprived, and improves memory through waste clearance which leads to improved myelination. When I die I would like to be buried in a burlap sack with a gingko tree planted over my grave.
