Backend engineering gets paid just as much as ML so idk why you would throwaway the training you have in something secure in order to chase a trend that is fleeting and will pay you the same at best and in practice it won’t actually because lots of dummies are trying to get into ML/AI without going through the math and we math ph ds give you jr level positions telling you that we’re only paying you little for dumbass work so you can work your way up, and then when a position opens we’ll always pick a mathsperg over you
