Advance to molecular biology, again any college book will suffice.
Advante to clinical genetics, this will help you understand the mechanism of genetic pathogenesis. Emery's elements of medical genetics is a pretty good book and is not too long.
This will probably take two or three months, depending on how much time you are willing to dedicate. This will give you better knowledge than even most people working in genetics.
Why though? Genetics is boring as fuck, its not the sci fi shit you think it is.
