To raise just one obvious possibiliy, how do you know that the unvaxxed reps aren't mostly younger whites while the unvaxxed dems are mostly older blacks? If that were the case, we would expect a disproportionate share of unvaxxed dems amongst the dead, despite overall higher vaxx rates.
Don't get too hung up on the example, the point is to illustrate why you can't just assume that share of unvaxxed equals share of deaths among unvaxxed.
