Corona is a great example on why science doesn't work. Scientific facts from a year ago are conspiracy tier nowadays, and the things that were Conspiracy in the beginning are facts now.
Going away from dusty books and back into the field, getting dirty collecting transparent and raw data that has to be published together with a paper would probably be good beginnings.
If a field is to theoretical to have field studies it should not be considered science.
