Question to my med Bros, how did you study for the gamsat? I've got great math skills and did Chem, physics and bio (although I skipped a year of bio and just went to the upper level of it) but I'm still worried.

I've looked over some sample questions, like one about planet atmospheres and it seemed too easy, same for a chemistry one. Do they really not test your actual skills in these subjects? Its concerning..
Anyway I'm currently just reading a bit of philosophy because I've heard its useful to have as a background.
(BTW I'm not taking the one that's in a few days time lol)

It literally (almost) never happens in planned surgeries, an event like that would be a fuck-up investigated on at least a city, probably a state/national medical authority level.
If you're spooked by surgeries, the best thing you can do is make sure you is get one when you need it, and not be one of those retards who cope and do 'alternative medicine' and hope 'it'll go away on its own' until half their ass is rotting off or there's 2 weeks-worth of shit stuck in their obstructed intestine or they've got a 4cm perforated ulcer.

Switzerland is pretty based but a bit difficult to get a good job and cost of living is through the roof. I will probably plan to move there sooner or later once I finish my residency.
I have read that Netherlands pays a shitload as well, but that it is really hard to get a residency in anything but Family Medicine and that most people even need to get a PHD

Ditto, Residencies aren't the hardest part, getting a job after finishing one is. Simply because you start costing too much for either the hospital or the specialist partnership.
There's a big push to get more people on salary and of course removing the PhD requirements for shit like ER surgery etc.

How do I medical tourism? There's a surgery that will improve my quality of life but my leaf doctor considers it unnecessary so I can't get it in Canada. Do I just call up Thai hospitals and ask? I've googled it but it's not a common surgery so nobody lists it as something they offer.

Laser urinary sphincterotomy.

I have a neurogenic bladder. I can't sense my bladder pressure or piss. This will cause kidney failure if left untreated. The solution I've been given is to stick a tube up my dick three times a day to drain it. It's very painful. My urethra is usually so sore I can't masturbate. It's also causing a lot of UTIs.

A sphincterotomy cuts open the valve I can't control. After that I'll be draining freely which can be controlled with a penile clamp or condom catheter. I could even get an artificial urinary sphincter. This is often done for people who can't catheter themselves because of eye or hand problems or being too fat to see their dick, but I've got none of those problems.

I stopped smoking a while back but recently took up vaping. Homosexuality aside, is there any risk of residue in my hair or on my clothes affecting my newborn child if I go outside to vape then come back and shower / wash my clothes? Would this residue get mixed into the washing machine for instance? Or is it a non issue? The complication is with the urinary sphincter always open a lot of your ejaculate goes into your bladder instead of out your penis. Basically a vasectomy; which I don't have a problem with. There's also a ~5% chance of erectile dysfunction. I'm willing to take those odds.

There were some genetics concepts whoch I had just learned for a course which were in the gamsat. Note that a lot of genetics things are pretty basic logical challenges for some reason. I think if you practice those types of things, whether by using pastpapers or other material you will be set up well. Some of the questions will have you being like wtf when you first seem them but you can break them down to find patterns.
For s2 I remember my essay being quite dogshit. I was repeating a shitty point over and over and cry laughing at myself during the exam. Ended up with 74.
On test day it will be long and annoying but just keep fucking going. I was never the smartest cookie so i definitely got in by a fluke. This was just last year when interviews werent done too which was great.
Usyd is fine I think. Im currently just cruising through with the anking deck and performing in the top third of my class.

I get taught preventative measures in pretty much every lecture and we are stressed to promote them while practicing. How old you? If you're 18-22 ish its going to be difficult because your body favours a later sleep wake phase but the best thing to get you sleep back in line is slowly pushing your sleep back so eventually your sleeping at the right time. I got into a pretty good med school, top 40 NIHS. Pretty much as soon as I showed up I realized I was retarded, had burnt candle at both ends to get stats needed to sneak into this school and simply did not have the brain power, discipline, intelligene to keep up with the pack. As soon as I had clinical experience I realized my retardation had a high chance of killing someone. Rather than stick around and learn the hard way I opted to pursue a field where it was more about random chance whether or not my patients died, something I was interested in at baseline because obviously, everyone is interested in it, and if I followed the very simple best practices I can just go along and get along. So I'm gunning for psych.
I failed and had to repeat one preclinical course, my step 1 score is 23x and my step 2 score is 22x. Went down on the second one, idk how. Was nothing like the practice materials and I panicked. Had a bad day. I can do medicine well within the margins of a competent intern. I have no way of proving that besides the comments of everyone I've worked with, but I genuinely can do the intern stuff. NO clue how I fucked up so bad.
Think I can still match psych given the downward trend in step scores and failed preclinical course? Assuming every other part of my app is solid. Already planning to apply to 80+ programs.
If not I'll just go community FM I guess, it wouldn't be the end of the world for me.

Expected as in capable of doing so but most of the time its for the nurses, the latter is done rarely but you should be able and are allowed to do it without direct supervision (as in the specialist is in the same room)

Because there is no such thing as "acute pancreatitis" that you would have since you're 14 years old. Its either a chronic pancreatitis or recurring acute pancreatitis. If you have an underlying condition that causes recurring acute pancreatitis, you wouldn't be getting surgery for your "acute pancreatitis" but rather for the underlying condition.
You are a schizo, severely undereducated about your own condition or your doctor is a chump.
Go to a renowned private practice Gastroenterologist and get yourself checked out, it might be expensive but it's a better decision than just simply accepting dying at 30. Depending on where you're from, you will have to accept that a lot of public health care is really subpar.

it's a pure lecture course, the lab portion is just the professor giving us powerpoints of slides and having us identify stuff. no access to microscopes.
i've just been going through powerpoints and trying to distill the main points. i take all the slide images we get during lecture, clear them of any labels and try to relabel them. if i study in the morning then i'm able to relabel them later that afternoon. but if i try to relabel everything the next day it's like i've forgotten everything. it's weird, i don't have this retention problem with other material.

this is all wrong, cancer is more the cells that managed to gain actually useful mutations (from their perspective) that allow them to bypass the normal regulatory system than some opportunist breakout.
