What happens to "SCIENCE" if, hypothetically speaking, not only the covid vaccines are ineffective but create long term health problems for around half the population on the planet?
What happens if a large portion of humanity not only loses faith in science and scientists, but might actually distrust further information coming from them?

Expect things to escalate.
There are a large number of mostly college-educated NPCs who have built their entire identity around Science™.
For them, it's not a question of truth or justice, right or wrong. They will go to any length to protect their own sense of self-worth.
You are seeing this already in places like Australia, where children are being separated from their parents who refuse the vaccine.

Polio is a stable pathogen not prone to much mutation, Covid and Flu and other viruses are very unstable and evolve quicker vaxxing against these should only be done in people that actually have a good risk of dying when they get the disease, (old people, inmunocrompromised or people with comorbilities)

This doesn't change the paradigm surrounding vaccines though. We've know for a while that some viruses utilize antigen escape mechanisms (drift, shift, variation) and what not more frequently and are more or less unfeasible to vaccinate against, like rhinovirus is, but things like influenza viruses and coronaviruses have enough conserved antigens that they can reasonably be vaccinated against. As well, in terms of genetic stability, coronaviruses are more stable than influenza viruses.

Skepticism about COVID-19, vaccines and well-funded “scientific” authorities who are paid by pharmaceutical companies currently running the FDA and the bought-out media machines which seek to dictate public perception at the cost of truth is a perfectly scientific attitude. Unfortunately nothing will come of it, the media will continue to make skeptics look insane and conservative morons will make their jobs easy for them. If anything it’ll be another drop in the bucket like 9/11 though still nowhere near enough to rouse the people to action. One of the big problems living in such a comfortable 1st world country, no wants to abandon their conveniences and entertainment for long enough to do anything about it. In previous centuries people weren’t so well off so fighting back might have been a good alternative to overwork and boredom.

The most resistance we’ll likely see in our lifetimes is Black Lives Matter, the white middle class is too couchlocked.
