You get a positive test, the whole neighborhood is locked down and it's your fault, so it's better to not get tested if you can avoid it. The lockdowns do work to stop it from blowing up, but the fact that it keeps popping up all over there shows that "beating" it like that is only in the short term.
The anal swab wasn't promoted to make more accurate testing, it was to make people even more reluctant to test. Trump was right, if you don't test, you don't have cases.
