You can’t sue a software glitch. You can’t take a software glitch to court. It either rolls up to a VP somewhere or it nails the company at the CEO or board level and nobody is going to expose themselves to that when they can just pay the wagie.

There's several fully automated train systems already in operation and new train systems tend to be automated.

The automation tends to struggle under certain conditions like heavy snow on the track and manual override is sometimes used. The people saying it can't be done because of liability are wrong it can be done and already has been done and continues to be done there's no legal barrier to this.

Again the only time these systems ever tend to fail is in snow because it fucks with the sensors that detect obstructions on the track.

I legitimately didn't realize that people actually still used trains where people fucking drove the train until my 20s and it seemed bizarrely quaint, Like what the fuck. Like sure if you're on some old tracks and going over long distances the automation might be impractically expensive but why would you hold your public transit hostage to some conductors who demand gibs and run over children regularly? We've had this capability since the damn 80s.
