Now imagine something so heavy that it just about rips a hole in the bottom of the fabric. So heavy, that it's space is a huge pit. The pit is so deep, that not even light, a massless particle, can traverse through because there is no bottom to that pit. That's why its so dark. Because light is slipping into that pit and can't come back out because its so deep.
Now, if you were to hover yourself in the mouth of the pit, your vision would be limited to what the mouth shows. Somewhat like pic rel. Except, your not just looking "straight" out. Your looking out from all directions of the hole since light from all directions is falling into it. And a side effect of that light falling in is that it moves quicker toward you (since your in the pit) and it cause the light you see to blue shift since it's rushing towards you like water to a drain.
Not much can be said after everything turns dark though. Since it's a space pit, it's been thought that it could lead to another opening if you fall in far enough. Or you could be compacted into a spall point. I think the latter
