>>13579047Success of Elon is success of the US and ultimately the success of the human kind.
It doesn't take a genius to hate people more successful than you. Its very easy to be a negative nancy about those things. The hate for the billionaires are personal insecurities driven by ideology based around envy and hate.
The hard part is to celebrate the success of another person. Especially since they built an now just one new industry but two. SpaceX created the commercial space industry and Tesla created the electric vehicle industry.
>but whats the actual benefit of defending tesla/spacexSpaceX has saved US tax payers $50 billion dollars so far in just pure contract savings. With the increased in revenue coming to the US with the creation of the US commercial space sector and commercial launch sector, that's another $20+ billion dollar in revenue coming to the US revenue stream.
On top of that, with Starship, the US may save hundreds of billions of dollars in the next 10-20 years alone, if not trillions of US dollars in the economic output it will generate for the US.
Lets look at the Tesla's benefit. They took in $500 million loan from the US gov and paid the US gov those money back plus interest. Isn't that amazing? Tesla's competitors (Ford/GM/Chrylser) took ~$100 billion dollars and we lost money through bankruptcy and they haven't paid back the remaining amount from those that havent bankrupted. Then on top of that, each Tesla car is a net reduction to local CO/2 production. That means each EV on the road is reducing the city pollution in both noise/smell, which has direct cost to people's health, health insurance, etc.
Finally, if we move our entire car fleet to EV, we will save $20-$50 trillion dollars by avoiding the oil wars that we have kept going for the last 50 years.
