The actual pictures of a spiral galaxy that get labeled 'milky way' are just other spiral galaxies. For instance. For years we used pictures of perfect spiral arm galaxies to represent the milky way. But only just recently did we learn that that the milky way is a bar arm spiral galaxy. So now we use images of bar arm spiral galaxies to represent the milky way. But most of the population still hasn't caught on, and still think of the milky way as a perfect spiral, which it is not.

why didnt we call it something cool like we did with the "Black eye galaxy" or "Andromeda galaxy"
I would have liked a proper name rather than "milky way"
