Even should you be able to reduce the energy costs, considering you have the potential for a very large amount of novel coins created at any given time that doesn't have to matter. Although i suppose people also won't want to have to keep track of a billion different coins.
The goal of creating a monetary system detached from the central banks is a good one but i don't see how this is ever going to survive in the long run. At some point it's going to get slapped for being a problem to the common man.
