Tell me why a temporary international 1child "policy" would be a bad thing, not today or in 10 years, but in 60-100 years, for the betterment of anything on and around this planet in nearly every conceivable way?

I'd be more of a fan of a 2 Child policy. 1 Child is shit because if your only child dies, you lost your participation in the genepool. Also 1 Child doesn't ensure a stable pop count, it actually results in a steep decline because you require 2 People to have 1 child. 2 Child policy makes sense, and I'd agree that some might even have 3(if genes allow it, or lets say a catastrophy with many dead happened, a third child might be allowed for replacing kek). This way you can maintain a stable population

Yes, and let me explain why.

We are at the end of human civilization, at least in its current form. With climate change, the entire world will undergo a great cataclysm. Billions of people from India/MENA/Africa will be forced to migrate northwards. Europe is dead already, it doesn't know it yet. Maybe Chinese civilization will survive, maybe not, but everyone else is finished. In any case, the threads of global commerce and global supply chains will come crashing down, and then even China will struggle and fail to maintain our current civilization. With this reality, things will be grim. But here's the thing: whoever makes it to the other side will be the one to create the next civilization. Eventually carbon emissions will cease as industrial civilization ceases to exist. Eventually the world population will stabilize. Whoever is left will establish the communities and societies which will form civilization 2.0. I want my biological (and just as important, ideological/religious) descendants to be part of that, and so I will reproduce. I will die before I see this new civilization, hell I might die before the collapse really kicks in. But those who follow, I want to be my children, whether by flesh or by soul. And to guarantee a child of flesh is easier than to guarantee one of ideology.

This is a /pol/ thread, Not a sci one. No amount of logical calculations of the benefits of a one child policy will outweigh the moral complications of having a government enforce reproductive quota's on a populace. Any such organization would by its existence be tyrannical in its attempts to enforce such a policy.

Need I remind OP that global birthrates are presently on the decline for most of the world. North America, Europe, Most of Asia, Australia. The global "Boom" of population is steadily on a decline with the only ones leading the trend consisting of India and Africa. Africa being an especially interested example as inherently their constant growth is actually fueled by their poverty in ability to access not only birth control, But even the basic understanding of birth control in some locations.

As stated above, A one child policy is inherently a tyrannical one as it enforces reproductive control, includes mandatory abortive measures, And potentially sterilization.

I disagree. I think civilization is much more precarious than it seems. Take semiconductors for example. They're produced cheaply and distributed all over the world. However, they're mostly produced in Taiwan and if production there suddenly stopped, Africans wouldn't be able to produce their own at any price. So the fact that tech is cheap and widely available now is misleading, since it disappears entirely of any link in the global economy is severed. Lots of products suffer the same vulnerability. Without a population of educated and highly trained engineers, technology disappears.

No one reall said that anon. Zibmabwe;s farming onl y collapsed becuase Mugabe gave the land to his supporters because his supporter base was the one that got him into power and demanded he accelerate land reforms. If he gave the land to the other Blacks in Zimbabwe who knew how to farm (and there's a ton) the collapse would not have happened.

In the colonial era white farmers only did "well" because they had the state supporting them exclusively, a massive pool of labour with rock bottom wages (or forced labour), ease of gaining land because the colony stripped land from the natives and the inability to fail (the state would always prop them up). in parts of Africa where whites did not have that massive advantage they could not scepter versus the locals such as the case was with West Africa farming.

I read this article and the topic in general. South Africa has this education system where the implementation of mother tongue education was glosses over teaching the kid straight English or Dutch. This led to kids who had no good foundation in their native tongue but also end up incompetent in their English proficiency because their foundation in say Xhosa is weak so you have kids who are bad in 2 languages instead of just being good at 1.

South Africa also has the issue of having not enough resources to train teaches to match the needs of their student base. apartheid also fucked over Colored and Black education from being able to meet the demands of it's students. Economist also is clickbaity as fuck

I think Ian Smith and Rhodesia were as close to fixing Africa as we ever got.
It's a shame that it fell and didn't become a posterchild for how to turn African states into independent economical powerhouses. Britain could have had a strong ally by dropping the embargo and the US could have spared themselves Vietnam and gained the entirety of Southern Africa for their cause in the cold war.
But nobody listened to him that it takes time, time to educate an entire population, to change mindsets around to be compatible with the modern world and to be fair the natives were never asked if this is what they really wanted which in itself is forcing democracy on them^^
