I'm taking an electrical engineering class that requires me to use a pen for lab notes, so I want to get something nice. I'm a mechanical pencil guy, and I don't know much about pens. I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the choices. My pencil of choice is the Pentel GraphGear 1000. Is there a pen that's more or less analogous to that?

Is it required to serve a particular purpose outside of taking notes, or can you go for comfort?

The lab notes get turned in. They're telling me that it's convention for engineers to write with a pen for some reason, so they're trying to ingrain that in me I guess.

I'll have to do things like drawing schematics and plotting graphs etc. I'd like it to at least be good quality though. If I have to use a pen, the least I can do is make sure it's not a crappy one.
