These are the ingredients of pic-related. What is the devil's advocate argument AGAINST these chemicals, are there any drawbacks or unspoken of health disadvantages to them? I googled PVP and apparently it can cause respiratory issues?

What you googled is likely a Safety Data Sheet for the pure substance. SDS's give information to someone handling a chemical usually in a work, typically industrial setting. Looking up the SDS for PVP when talking about an oral health product will not give you accurate information about the risks of exposure. Instead you should look up the SDS for the oral health product itself.

I'm not much of a chembro, if they're using said ingredient, surely mixing it with others doesn't mitigate it's toxicity? Not to mention there's literally hydrogen peroxide ingrained into your teeth as the first poster mentioned basically I didn't know hydrogen peroxide was used as bleach (or at least forgot so hehe)

There isn't any bleach in this product. Hydrogen peroxide is a bleaching agent, it is not synonymous with sodium hypochlorite which is also a bleaching agent but not anywhere near the same thing.

The whitening agent in many of these toothpaste is peroxide. Before things like Listerine, people would use household topical peroxide as a mouth wash.

Exposure is not absolute. Concentration matters a lot. Comparing a pure substance to a dilute solution in a household product are incredibly different when you wanna talk about toxicity.

Toxic effects happen when you are exposed to an excessive and high concentration of a chemical. All chemicals of course have different levels of toxicity so exceeding exposure limits varies drastically between chemicals and applications.

The toxicity of PVP in that oral health product is incredibly low. It's properties have been evaluated at this level and application and they've determined that this is safe to use in this way.
