Hi /sci/ I am in my 2nd year of a PhD program in physics. I should have done research in photonics, instead I am stuck in thermodynamics and physical chemistry hell. Is a phd even worth it? I used to want to be a professor, but I am so jaded by the ugliness of my peers. Some of the worst people I have ever met are securing good post docs and seem to gain favor of their advisors, & I think if I was in academia I would want to leave.

Is it because I chose the wrong field? Or is academia as blackpilled as /pol/tards would lead one to believe? I need hopium
