Nuclear energy is a mediocre power source. Our sources of fissible uranium are finite (eta: 150 years at current rate of consumption), then we have to spend way more money on breeder reactors. It does not produce a shitton of energy like the theoretical limits of fusion would be. Costs could not be cut to make it economically feasible even if safety procedures were laxed.
