I've seen no good arguements for why the fourth DIMENSION is time. It would make more sense for time to be a force and dimensions to be unrelated.

Time cannot be a force because it doesn't have the right units
Time is not the 4th dimension, ct is where c is the speed of light. Typically c is taken to be 1 in which case time and space have the same dimension
To actually answer your question, it is by construction of the spacetime metric.

I doubt you've ever looked then. In special relativity there is a kind of conservation between space and time. The faster something moves through space, the slower it goes through time. This is because special relativity is simply saying there is a symmetry in spacetime such that any inertial reference frame will see the same interval of spacetime between two events, even if they disagree on the amount of time or the amount of space. This is empirically proven and shows space and time are dimensionally linked.

I disagree. It would also make sense if movement in of itself is time, the energy of time being kinetic/potential energy or related to kinetic/potential energy, which would also explain faster movement being more quick of temporal pacing.

To give a mild example of what I mean could be a matching scenario: The Big Bang and Particle Accelerators. Both produce new, seemingly unrelated items from an event involving energetic interaction. A similar case could be applicable to time, but on a significantly smaller, less varied scale.

Time is simply the dimension you're moving through at the speed of light when you're at "rest" in the other 3 dimensions.
If you start moving in the "X" dimension, as you approach the speed of light, X increasingly becomes "time," and ceases to be "space." That's why you get the length contraction.
On second though, this idea (which I just made up) is probably nonsense. You'd think the "time" dimension would have to become a "space-like" dimension if this were true.

Gravitational waves are a four dimensional phenomenon. We know gravitational waves exist because LIGO detected them.
We know that time is the fourth dimension, because of the many atomic clock experiments that have been performed.

Both gravitational waves, and the atomic clock experiments, produce results predicted by general relativity

Whether "time" (in its everyday sense) is a "dimension" (in its everyday sense) or not is a metaphysical question outside the scope of science.
Treating time (in its physical sense) as its own dimension (in its mathematical sense) along side the other 3 spatial dimensions leads to interesting, useful, and empirically verified models.
