>>13548140Cont: For example, one of my co-workers has been studying in the fields of psychology and sociology for 20 years. She has been working on a book with 700 pages describing the benefits of social workers assisting disabled children through school. 1 social worker assigned for every disabled child. It’s great in theory, sure, but my first though was: how the fuck would you budget it in reality, how ‘disabled’ does one have to be to have one assigned, how would they assist without disturbing the other children and most importantly, is it really necessary to have children with down syndrome or other developmental issues that are incapable of comprehending the knowledge sit through mandatory presence classes in the first place?
These are the first things that came to mind when I thought of this issue, but she hasn’t spent a single minute considering any of it. She has been taught that everyone deserves the best education and doesn’t even care about anything else. This is a person that earns 5 times more than employees doing hard labour for minimum wage at the expanse of the tax payers and whose whole total of 15 years full time education and 5 years of additional qualifications while working part time were paid for by the state.
Academia has just completely degraded into theoretical nonsense in general and in most cases no longer serves its purpose. It’s different for the higher sciences but as someone with degrees in a 3 fields and occasionally collaborating with people from other professions, I cannot bother memorizing useless terminology, but I still think it’s just a consequence of a much larger problem - the degeneration of academia.
