After 20 years in the Navy, slept on a 1inch thick foam mattress (coffin rack) with a grey scratchy blanket.
Then 10 years in federal military prison (Leavenworth) another 1inch thick foam mattress on a steel and concrete sleeping platform.
Got used to a lot of constant noise and 70 degree temperatures.
Now that I out and about (underwater welder, oil platforms, US only, not allowed to travel outside of the US as a felon) I sleep on a piece of carpet I put on my bed, a/c on low and street noise on my phone.
