What China is doing here, is go bacc and running in nonaccordance to fundamental western ideology. They are riding the wake of western hard earned innovation because it's logical. Are we cool with that? Hell no. Do they really care? Probably not. See how different their society is to ours in every way, be it politics, awareness, social status, maybe these life leak videos? And I'm saying that without any personal agenda here.
It's like for example a society was not having the concept of graves and decides that the dead would be turned into fuel for bioreactors or fertilizer, or that animals are equal to humans, or that personal ownership doesn't exist, or that every car has a self destruct mechanism if you go under the speed limit... or that one day in the year all crime is legal, or that copyright is a meme and humanity would progress further if artificial personalities wouldn't be allowed to gatekeep intellectual property from others. Is it highly immoral by our standard? Yes! But they don't play by our standards. And that's a completely different debate than discussing "advancement" in relation to iq points or whatever.
