(rot is mouth in nadsat, whether because it stinks or because it's red, but red and rot could be cognates because inflamatiion causes redness.

Wisdom teeth surgery is unwarranted in most instances. Almost anything can be construed as an impaction. The removal of wisdom teeth is more egregious than circumcision, and does substantial harm to the facial aesthetics and can cause nerve damage. Don't fall for their removal.

The dentists and orthodontists I've seen in Australia say similar things. Basically unless they're actively causing issues leave them be.
I've had one out because it was being a real dick to my other tooth and causing a cavity + pain but I still have my other 3 sitting pretty as a 30 year old boomer.
Not sure if that's standard practice or the Drs I saw just all happened to take the same policy of wait and see.

This. Eating harder, chewier food when you are growing prevents wisdom teeth from causing problems. Your jaws do not grow properly if you eat only soft, processed food, but teeth are always their genetically determined size.

I have constant inflammation in the back of my mouth because a part of my lower wisdom teeth have broken through.
I have to go to the dentist man.

>have bone splinters and bits of tissue removed
>it takes 2 years for nerve to heal and random debilitating pain to stop
>liver is fucked up a bit due to prescription pain meds
>another 2 years for my jaw joint to work halfway normally again
>got 6 cavities and early stages of periodontists due to not being able mouth enough to brush teeth for days on end
tl;dr fuck wisdom teeth and fuck dentists.
