You're doing the right thing by trying to find the "intuition" for things, questioning yourself when you get a wrong answer, and asking other people rather than going round and round in circles in your own time.
I'm good at maths, myself, and I still have plenty of moments of retardation. Higher conceptual stuff, I'm great, but show me some elementary Greek geometry and suddenly I'm herp, derp.
Lots of people have "maths anxiety", too, and it takes a long time to free up, not doubt yourself in your head and take simple pleasure in doing maths.
Good luck and don't get too worked up (it helps to have a good "break" regimen when doing STEM stuff, too—I play music or do a set of pullups—really try and get yourself in a stress-free place as you do maths.)
