Depends on how you do it. Trying to do everything together can be detrimental, but having somebody around also keeping an eye out for what you're doing and doing the occasional idiot check can save a lot of time debugging and iterating on issues.

Most efficient problem solving moments of my life were just having somebody to spam ideas at and then them not saying anything. I'm not even sure they were listening at those times. Idk just seems like another person there makes me think further.
